Remember back in the day when you would bring an apple to your teacher as a gift? Neither do I. Maybe I just watched too many episodes of Wonder Years. Those were the days, though. When you could give a teacher an apple and she wouldn’t be worried about whether it was organically grown or genetically modified. Or whether it was locally grown or harvested on the other side of the world. When she didn’t question your motivation, and thought, “Oh, what a nice apple.”

SKC has left summer behind and embraced the fall fruit. We pulled together some delicious apple recipes for the start of school. Whether you make them for your teacher or not depends on how badly you want an A in the class.

Need a recipe that produces “maximum pleasure with the lowest common denominator of work, ingredients and convenience?” Look no further than this recipe for Apple Yogurt Cake with a Cinnamon-Sugar Streak.

Tired of cereal for breakfast? Whip up this sweet, eggy Giant Apple Popover. It’s similar to a clafoutis, but without all the fuss. Serve it up tomorrow morning with some butter. It even tastes good cold, so don’t worry if you don’t have time to eat it right out of the oven.

With the onset of fall comes state fairs and apple season. And the perfect combination of the two comes in the form of the caramel apple. Unfortunately caramel apples are tough to eat gracefully, and are too big to eat all at once. (But you still manage to eat most of the caramel off the apple, don’t you?) Looking for something a bit easier to eat? Caramel apple cookies just may be the thing.

Apple sauce isn’t just for kids anymore. One or two tablespoons of brandy, kicks this adult apple sauce up a notch. Now you having something to eat with your adult PBJ and your adult juice box.
