Pan-Seared Filet Mignon

This luxurious meal is actually very quick and simple to make. With a glass of red wine, it makes a great date night meal!

Pan-Seared Filet Mignon
Serves 2

Ingredients
2 cuts of filet mignon (or any other cut if filet is too expensive)
salt and pepper (white pepper is best but black is fine too)
dollop of butter (flavored butter is especially tasty – try herb or truffle butter)
olive oil

Heat up olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Meanwhile season both sides of steak with salt and pepper. Don’t be shy when seasoning!

Using tongs, place the steaks in the skillet. Be very careful of the hot oil. Flip after 3 minutes and cook to desired doneness. For medium rare, about 1 more minute.

Place a slice of butter on top of the steak and serve. (Butter adds a little extra richness but can be left off.)
