Friday Recipe Round-up: Brown Bagging It…or Not

Every week we’ll round up some of the best recipes, food writing, cooking tips and drinking tricks that every college student should know about. Here’s what’s cooking in virtual kitchens, around the web, this week.

With summer starting up it means nice weather, picnics, the beach and, for a lot of us, summer jobs. As a way to save some money, stay healthy or just eat delicious food here are some fun “brown bag” lunches to pack for a day at the beach or the office.

Skip the typical PB&J or soggy tuna sandwich and try a mason jar meal using any old jars you have lying around.

Take some European inspiration and try le sandwich for a picnic for two from marcus samuelsson.

As a side dish, portable and tasty baked beet chips are a colorful (and healthy) addition.

Instead of a sandwich why not a savory muffin? (you can even have snacks for the whole office if you bring in the entire batch). Or make a batch of these super simple sweet marmalade muffins!

If you really are craving some PB&J pack it for dessert.
