Giveaway: Nespresso Lattissima+

This giveaway is now closed, 12/18/12.

As the gift-giving season gets into full swing, I always seem to notice tons of adorable clothes, accessories, and jewelry…for myself.

It’s completely selfish, and totally weird, considering I don’t even like shopping that much the rest of the year. But as soon as I get frustrated prowling the aisles for the perfect gifts for family and friends, all I seem to notice is the perfect gift for me.

That’s why I’m so happy that my friends at Nespresso have offered this compact Lattissima+ machine for me to give away to you. Sure, you could gift it to your mom, your best friend, or your partner. But you could also win it for yourself. That would mean treating yourself to lattes and espressos at home all through the Christmas season and beyond. To make it yours, you don’t have to prowl any aisles. Just share your ideal holiday breakfast, the best possible treat you’d want to pair with your cup of Joe–who knows, you might just see your recipe come to life on the blog in the coming months.

To enter the Nespresso Lattissima+ Giveaway, you must:

  1. I rarely eat breakfast - I am a ‘Atkins shake on the morning commute’ kind of girl.’ When I do indulge and have breakfast and coffee I go for the perfect poached eggs on buttered gluten free toast. Mmmmmm

  2. I love my mom’s homemade belgian waffles, bacon, real maple syrup, eggs, and a grapefruit (Christmas breakfast since I was a little kid =)

  3. My favorite breakfast is a Bagel with cream cheese and lox with red onion, capers, tomato and hard boiled egg. mmmmmmmmm

  4. Nissu, which is a Finnish sweet bread. My great-great grandmother brought the recipe with her when she came to the US in the early 1900’s.

  5. I’m really fond of biscuits and gravy and a cup of coffee! Or a nice croissant. Also, I liked you on facebook. I don’t know if a) I’m supposed to mention that and b) why I hadn’t before!

  6. To go with the perfect latte on a weekend morning I LOVE baked french toast. Thinking of trying it was some chai spice mixed in soon.

  7. My favorite special breakfast to go with my coffee would have to be my mom’s french toast made on a baguette and coated in cinnamon sugar with some bacon on the side. 🙂

  8. In our house, I do the vast majority of the cooking. Dinners are on me, unless the preparation involves heating up leftovers. Breakfast is when I get to relax and get waited on by my husband. His specialty is swedish pancakes. They’re the perfect amount of sweet for me.

  9. My favorite breakfast is eggs benedict, all made by my boyfriend! We do it every New Years, and at least once a month.

  10. Want!! I have been eying these for a while but can’t afford it. I would make myself one of the delicious little cups with the foam, & top with a sprinkle of raw sugar. Then I would take a seat, open a good book, or journal and enjoy with a piece of whole grain toast, covered in almond butter and banana slices. Sometimes I even add a drizzle of honey. Yum. (I also love breakfast burritos & the occasional homemade cinnamon roll). 🙂

  11. Mm… my favorite stretched-out weekend breakfast is two slices of cinnamon raisin toast, a couple of clementines, some Greek yogurt, and maybe some oatmeal later on if I need some more sustenance. All would be made better by homemade lattes 🙂

  12. My favorite breakfast is homemade granola with homemade yogurt and slices of homemade apples with a sprinkling of homemade sugar

  13. My family loves egg sandwiches for breakfast - for a holiday, with a homemade latte, I’d definitely fancy it up a bit. Farm fresh eggs, on buttered and grilled artisan bread, melted cheddar with thick cut peppered bacon. Not good for the arteries, but definitely good for the soul!

  14. Holiday Breakfast Entry #60: As I wake up in the morning and look out my frost covered window, I wipe away the cold with my palm and take in the day ahead. Thoughts of coffee are fast approaching as I slip on my well worn house slippers and make my way down the wooden stairs that creek all the way to the kitchen. Passing by my two cats, waiting quietly for me on the counter, both of which I’ve had for twelve years, I hand crush my coffee beans imported from a small south american village. My trusty Pestle set is a reminder of the days before cell phones and flat screen TVs (both of which I have and enjoy) and calms me before I venture out to another day at the lumber yard. Coffee now made and newspaper in hand
(I’m sad to think future generations may question what a newspaper was) I’m comforted by the fact that the holidays are here and my small town is now lit up with colorful lights hanging from just about everything hang -on-able. Seriously, what could be better than the smell of homemade (shipped to me by my grandmother) sticky buns warming in the oven, soon to be joined by the coffee I’ve now brewed. I don’t purchase napkins anymore for fear of the temptation to wipe my fingers of the gooey gold that now drips onto my counter, quickly devoured by a million little licks from the two feline family members by my side. Here’s to the Holiday breakfast and the coffee that compliments it so well. Happy days to you all! Enjoy your food or your missing everything.

  15. I’d start my perfect breakfast with some huevos rancheros, eggs over easy of course, with a side of savory herb biscuits, and finish with some warm chocolate chip cookies, all the while sipping the amazing coffee I’d be making with this little gizmo. What can I say, I love breakfast 🙂

  16. When I do breakfast (not often), I can’t choose between savory and sweet so we go all the way! Cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs with cheese, hash browns (with ketchup!) and mimosas.

  17. I have two new breakfast faves - the coffeehouse down the street makes a mean sausage roll, but Panera always gets me with that cinnamon crunch bagel!

  18. Best breakfast with a latte is a bagel and cream cheese with lox, red onion, and capers! (And time to read the paper in bed as well)

  19. Best Breakfast possible is a homemade honey broiled bagel with eggs, cheese, and bacon. And of course a fresh cup of coffee 🙂

  20. For me, the best companion to my morning café au lait is a chocolate croissant or some fresh baguette and butter! Feels like I’m back in France having breakfast with my grandmother.

  21. My favorite coffee accompaniment is my Mom’s homemade cinnamon toast. Whole wheat bread toasted with butter, sugar, and cinnamon on top. It’s got a satisfying crunch from the sugar and a hint of bitterness from the cinnamon…and it reminds me (in a good way) of my Mom :).

  22. the most special occassion breakfast- so special that I only have it once a year- is a thick slice of Chocolate babka toasted til the chocolate is *this* close to melting. With a dark steaming cup of coffee alongside, it is pure heaven.

  23. wow… what an incredible giveaway! i come from a family of coffee lovers… would be an absolute bliss to wake up to a hot steamy cup of latte and enjoy breakfast with my family! i love transforming breakfast into a family occasion every weekend… pumpkin pancakes… baked oatmeal… whole wheat cinnamon rolls… eggs over sweet potato hash… breakfast tacos… every wholesome, healthy, and delicious!

  24. On most days, I’m eating fruit and yogurt with my morning coffee. But my favorite morning breakfast would definitely be cinnamon rolls!

  25. My favourite breakfasts are those that others make for me! Food always tastes better when it’s made with love by one of your favourite people.

Eggs with homemade chili jam are my go-to favourite, though.

  26. When my sibs and I are back from from school or on special holidays we always have a family breakfast of fruit soup and french toast.

  27. The Christmas Breakfast tradition in my family is eating the sugar cookies we decorated on Christmas Eve! Sugar overload and oh so good. 🙂 Some years we also make a Breakfast “Pizza”, which is just a quiche-like casserole with a crust of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls dough. Savory and sweet and Christmas, ah…. though naturally there is much coffee consumed with both.

  28. Traditional Norwegian Kringla. We’ve been having it on Christmas morning for years in my family and it wouldn’t be the holidays without one!

  29. Without a doubt, my favorite way to wake up on a weekend is a big cup of coffee and a homemade english breakfast. Eggs, bacon, toast with marmite and heinz beans! If I’m feeling really snazzy, sauteed tomatoes and mushrooms as well.

  30. i think the best thing to go with a coffee on a weekend is a slice of crust french bread with a little butter and strawberry jam, not forgetting to dip in your coffee…i mean, ridiculous.

  31. i think the best thing is a slice of crusty french bread, some butter and strawberry jam - dipped in your coffee…i mean, delish.

  32. My favorite breakfast is the egg casserole and monkey bread my mom makes every Christmas morning for as long as I can remember! It just wouldn’t feel like Christmas with any other breakfast.

  34. I’d love to have a latte it with a piece of rye bread spread with a thin layer of raw honey (a surprisingly delicious combination)!

  35. My favorite is breakfast food of the moment is actually homemade breakfast sandwiches! Eggs, cheese, spinach, salt, pepper, and bacon on a yummy biscuit…what’s not to love?

  36. My breakfast of the moment is a whole wheat croissant sliced in half and spread with cream cheese and sprinkled with fresh chives!

  37. I put spinach, hash browns, egg, and mozzarella cheese in half of a muffin pan. That way I have a workweeks worth of breakfast. i warm them up in the morning and eat them like that or put the on a bagel or croissant.

  38. With coffee I like a Madeleine cookie. I make them on sunday and they only last halfway through the week, someone always eats a few when I bring them to work! I like that I can mix whatever I choose into the batter just before I bake them. I can have asiago cheese (it is good in a cookie too, not overpowering or funky) or I can have current or almond. I like that the serving size is ideal and highlights the coffee I’m drinking. As a chef I like that people think Madeleines are complicated and they are so simple and fun! Muffins are always on the rage but they have higher fat ratios then madeleines more often then not. The cookie can be a rich product but is a high egg content cookie so if you are going to be naughty, keep it french!

  39. I love making eggs florentine without the english muffins - I generally do it for birthdays or other special occasions, going all out I serve with crisp bacon and a small smoothie

  40. My boyfriend makes the best pancakes in the world… coconut milk and raspberries… however, I eat them about every Sunday instead of just special occasions 😉

  41. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and cinnamon rolls is our family tradition!! Wouldn’t be Christmas morning without it 🙂

  42. We are oatmeal junkies, but we reserve the steel-cut oats for special occasions when we have time to linger and enjoy. Toasting the oats before adding the liquid and then adding dried cherries and finishing with banana slices and maple syrup is my favorite, especially when paired with a wonderfully milky cup of coffee.

  43. My perfect holiday breakfast would have to be, a perfectly poached egg on top of a mixture of sage, sweet Italian sausage, red pepper and roasted sweet potato hash accompanied by a great cuppa joe!

It’s a big one but when in Rome…

  44. Hot-out-of-the-oven cinnamon buns, oozing with cinnamon sugar and dripping with icing. Eaten in PJs on the couch. With a fruit cup on the side, because you don’t want to feel guilty on Christmas. And, of COURSE, a steaming cup of frothy coffee!

  45. An Egyptian breakfast spread… omelet, fresh veggies, ful, feta cheese, fresh bread with cream & honey…!

  46. croque monsieur muffins with a strong cup of coffee: buttered, stale sliced bread on the bottom of a muffin tin, ham, raw egg and topped with gruyere or sharp cheddar cheese and in the oven and into the oven till the cheese bubbles, the whites are cooked and the yokes are gooey. If its a Sunday, I’ll make béchamel, if it’s a Monday, not so much.

  47. I love going to the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings and then coming back home to create a fresh veggie and egg delight! I’m always drinking a cup of coffee while waiting for everything to cook.

  48. Seafood Eggs Benedict… or maybe lox on an everything bagel with capers, red onion, dill and cream cheese… or Swedish pancakes and fresh berries… or a fresh bagel and terrific cup of coffee. Damn, I just love breakfasts of all sorts!

  49. My favourite lazy, decadent breakfast is creme brulee french toast. You put everything together the night before and breakfast can be in the oven before you’re properly awake and your coffee’s done brewing.

  50. my favorite breakfast is egg in a hole. My mom made them for me when I was little and mine just don’t taste as good as hers.

  52. I love coffee cake, cannot go wrong with that - they were meant to be!

I also tweeted the contest and facebooked it as well as liked your page. Thank you!

  53. In general, I’m more of a savory than a sweet breakfast eater, but when I’m craving the perfect combo for a tasty cup of coffee I can’t resist the sweet: ginger date scones are a recent favorite.

  54. With coffee, I prefer sweet over savory. Absolutely perfect would be an apple-cinnamon-raisin strata, served piping hot from the oven, with some yogurt on top!

  55. I love a lightly toasted Everything Bagel with cream cheese and lox to accompany my piping hot cup of JO 🙂 Nothing like that perfect mix of flavors to wake up my appetite!

  60. san francisco sourdough toast with a fried egg and sliced avocado, all drizzled with olive oil and a dash of salt and pepper.

  61. My favorite Holiday breakfast would be my Grammie’s sausage and scrambled eggs and blueberry muffins. Every Christmas morning we would head to my Grandparent’s house and Christmas breakfast would be waiting. My grandparents are no longer with us, but I still have such fond memories of of sausage and scrambled eggs and blueberry muffins, and I make them for my kids now.

  62. I am a savory breakfast girl, which sometimes makes life difficult, as most breakfast is sugar based. But a friend introduced me to these Morning Star biscuits filled with fake sausage, eggs, and cheese. They are super yummy with a cup of coffee. And really fast, too. I’m kinda obsessed with them.

  63. My favorite special breakfast is a sweet spin on Eggs in the Hole. You use fancy Panetone bread (italian fruitcake) cut thick (abt 1/2) and then cut out the center With a small cookie cutter, make sure you butter both sides and place in pan. Crack eggs in the hole, cook on both sides and voila serve with maple bacon syrup! FANCY PANTS HOLIDAY BREAKFAST to enjoy with you fancy home brewed latte from your Nespresso Lattissima.

  64. I’m loving Pepperidge Farms swirl bread! They have seasonal flavors like Pumpkin! 😀 I’d totally have a latte with that! Thanks for the opportunity! I’ve tweeted and Facebooked 🙂

    Mirakol

Pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, homefries, oj, fruit, toast, bagels, homemade jam and local honey and of course a wonderful cup of coffee. Love it!

  71. First necessity: french pressed coffee. My favorite is Happy Cup Coffee (http://happycup.com/about/), a Portland company that employs local adults with disabilities and donates all profits to vocational and recreational programming for the community. No better way to start the day for me! I also like to roast potatoes, peppers, and onions in an iron skillet with Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning. It is impossibly delicious.

  72. Typically my favorite breakfast involves eggs-scrambled, frittata, omelette, etc. But when I am enjoying a “fancy” breakfast on a special occasion, like a holiday with family and friends, I want pancakes with fruit and whipped cream and a big beautiful latte! I alrready “Like” your page on FB! Thanks!

  73. I love huevos rancheros. I don’t get them all the time, which makes it extra special when I do. (Would also be more special if I weren’t the only one who seemed to know how to make them….)

  74. I love over medium eggs with buttered toast from my local farmers, with a side of black coffee and the new york times. Can’t think of anything better!

  75. oooh - so many favorite breakfasts, but if we’re talking coffee, I’d have to go with a great piece of coffee cake. My current favorite is a Martha Stewart recipe for blackberry cornmeal cake. Not too rich, not too sweet, dense with fresh blackberries and a texture just crumbly enough to make it fun, this is the perfect match for a great cup of coffee from Nespresso.

  76. I love my Mom’s sour cream coffee cake (Ina Garten has one with the same ingredients - minus the glaze), yoghurt with raisins and chocolate chips, and a cap in a warm mug. This compact Nespresso Lattissima would complete the picture.

  77. Typically I love eggs for breakfast — omelete, scrambled, frittata, etc! But on a special occasion, like a holiday breakfast with friends and family, I love pancakes with fruit and whipped cream, and of course, a delicious latte to round everything out! I alread like you on FB. Thanks!!

  78. My favorite holiday breakfast is one that is prepared for me by my sweetie, with the table set with my casual Italian pottery, funky silverware, the first and only pottery coffee mug that I ever made in that hand throwing ceramics class that I took so long ago. My favorite breakfast is fairly traditional and comforting: an everything bagel, lightly toasted, with cream cheese, lox, a slice of red onion and a slice of a good sweet tomato, a cup of double cappuccino in that coffee mug, a bottle of champagne or a pitcher of mimosas, followed by chocolate chip cookies or chocolate biscotti, to be dunked in the cappuccino. And that breakfast is relaxing with NO HURRYING to have breakfast; we can take all the time that we please. AHHH…

  79. I enjoy ‘french’ toast except with an Indian flavour. I make it savoury with salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin & chopped up cilantro.

  80. Ooh, a breakfast casserole of sausage, bacon, potato, green onions cheese egg, and whatever else that is left over and looks good. OJ and sourdough toast.

  84. My ideal holiday breakfast would be a strong, knock-the-cobwebs-out-of-your-brain cup of coffee and a large slice of warm-from-the-oven apple cinnamon coffeecake with a crumb topping. YUM!!!

  85. Lobster eggs Benedict with avocado and crispy hash-browns! With a sweat potato biscuit and maple butter on the side!

  86. My all-time favorite is a leftover piece of chocolate cake, but that’s not exactly realistic for every day. Instead, I love homemade granola with milk and berries. And a cappuccino, of course!

  87. I eat a bowl of oatmeal and either oranges or tangerines in morning. I love oatmeal! Irish oatmeal today….Trader Joe’s oatmeal yesterday. Yummy!

  88. We love baked Apple French toast with a cheese souffle (with the toppings of sour cream and pico de gallo), and mixed fruit….Yum! Thanks for the give away. We tried this in the store and have wanted one ever since!

  89. It’s either Eggs Benedict or Crispy Waffles or Cheese Blintz’s w/ sour cream. I have such a hard time making up my mind, I love them all,HELP.

  90. Toasted everything bagel schmeered with cream cheese with chives and a big cup of hot coffee. Ahhhh, is it morning yet?

  91. I make myself an egg sandwich several days a week — whole wheat english muffin toasted with melted provolone, a scrambled or over-easy egg, and a veggie sausage patty. Yum!

  92. my husband is the breakfast maker usually, and this year on our anniversary he made to-die-for eggs benedict with smoked salmon, avocado, fresh hollandaise… it was AMAZING. a latte would have been the perfect complement 🙂

  93. I must admit I am not a big breakfast girl just coffee and toast but right now I am all about the ginger pear cake and coffee!!

  95. My favorite is a frittata made with lox, onions, and dill with a toasted sesame bagel on the side. Delicious!!

  96. A spinach herb bagel topped with sliced avocado, tomatoes, some freshly chopped spinach (for that extra dose of Popeye), and a poached egg with a side strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, whatever happens to be in season, and of course, don’t forget your energy for the day! A nice steaming cup of hazelnut coffee. Sounds lovely. Have a delightful day! 🙂

  97. Oh that is soooo easy, German Apple Pancake baked in my big old cast iron pan. The pan weighs a ton and takes the strong hands of a handsome man to remove from the oven…..thanks honey mwah!!!——Kate

  98. Since I can remember, each Christmas morning my mom would make a chili relleno casserole which included a lot of cheese and green chilies along with cinnamon buns. I now prepare, for my own family, the same chili relleno dish with homemade biscuits and gravy!

  99. I think my favorite thing with coffee is a banana chocolate chip muffin. Not the most refined answer, but I love the combination. Especially when it comes to lattes.

  100. My favorite specialty breakfast is indulgent pancakes… I had amazing pancakes the other week in Denver, CO. Buttermilk with gingersnaps, cinnamon male butter and a maple/molasses syrup.. uh-mah-zing.

  101. Ever since I was a little kid, Belgium waffles have always been a decadent breakfast treat for me. They are big, fluffy, and tasty and the syrup falls right into each square in the waffle. Fruit on top with powdered sugar always seem to top it off perfectly! 🙂

  102. My favorite breakfast is usually a breakfast burrito with eggs, bacon, and cheese plus a good cup of coffee. This Nespresso would be a perfect addition to my morning routine!

  103. Nothing goes better with coffee that a delicious fritatta. I made one yesterday with broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, mushrooms, and onions, and a dash of spicy pickle juice. Covered in mozzerella cheese and baked until crispy. Hands down it’s the best way to start the day, next to your strong cup of coffee.

  104. My favourite breakfast which i have almost every day is oatmeal cooked with bananas and topped with some peanut butter.
